Irene T.M. Lindenburg

Dr Irene T.M. Lindenburg

Irene Lindenburg is an insurance physician. She received her PhD from Leiden University in 2015 for research on treating severe anaemia in the unborn child with a blood transfusion in the womb.

Her research covered the indications and risks of the procedure, how to monitor its quality, and how the children develop in the long term. She studied the long term as first author of the LOTUS study, which followed 291 children.

As an insurance physician she writes on work and health. In the educational article Arbeidsgerichte zorg (work-focused health care), she and her co-authors argue that attention to work belongs to every clinician's task.

She is a member of the Science Committee of the Netherlands Society of Insurance Medicine (NVVG), which reviews guidelines, standards and protocols for quality and relevance.
